Two hydrogen safety articles published
January 2020 two journal articles presenting our work and methods within hydrogen safety, were published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. One article describes a risk assessment approach for a hydrogen fast ferry concept performed with partners (IFE and OHC) in the MoZEES FME project. Relevant release and explosion incidents are modelled, including tank burst. The second article is about liquid hydrogen safety aspects, describing dense gas behaviour of an LH2 release and how gradual plume buoyancy at dilution in air is influenced by air humidity. A CFD-modelling approach for LH2 releases applicable for bunkering studies and other LH2 releases is presented. A safety philosophy for handling LH2 below deck on a ship is discussed and illustrated with the help of CFD explosion calculations.
