HYEX part of Ammonia Fuel Bunkering Network consortium awarded 89 MNOK

We are excited to see that the Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Sveinung Rotevatn yesterday awarded 89 MNOK (EUR 8.6M) through Green Platform to an Azane Fuel Solutions (ECONNECT Energy & Amon Maritime) project to develop a bunkering network for green ammonia. HYEX Safety is project partner together with Yara International, Viridis Bulk Carriers, SINTEF, Fjord Base, Global Ocean Technology and Ocean Hyway Cluster. With a higher energy density than hydrogen and less challenging storage, ammonia is expected to play an important role in decarbonising deep-sea shipping in the coming years. As ammonia is toxic, safety aspects storing and handling ammonia is one key task in the development project, not least to ensure public acceptance. HYEX Safety is nominated lead for the safety work package.

We very much look forward to working with our competent partners developing this first ammonia fuel bunkering network.
